


Robert Ames is a professional violist who plays an instrument made in Yann Besson's lutherie workshop in France.
Robert Ames was born in 1985. He graduated from Royal Academy of Music where he studied the viola with Martin OutramAs a pioneer of new music, Robert Ames worked closely with several of today's finest composers, including:

- Pierre Boulez
- George Benjamin
- Sir Harrison Birtwistle
- Jonathan Cole
- Mark-Anthony Turnage
Robert Ames regularly participates in music programs broadcast by the BBC.
He has played with some of the world's greatest conductors:
- Sir Colin Davis
- Christoph von Dohnányi
- Sir Roger Norrington
Robert Ames is the artistic director of the London Contemporary Orchestra. The orchestra was recently nominated for the Royal Philharmonic Society's "Public Development Award".
