Emilia Wareborn: her journey of self-discovery

Emilia Wareborn was born on May 24, 1981 in Gothenburg, Sweden.

She began playing the viola at the age of five using the Suzuki method, and simultaneously pursued violin and piano studies at the age of ten. In 2000, at the age of 19, she entered the Malmö Academy of Music, where she studied with Professor Henrik Frendin and his assistant Markus Falkbring.

In 2002, she continued her studies at the Gothenburg Academy of Music with Professor Björn Sjögren and Johanna Persson.

After four years of study in Sweden, she completed her studies at Paris National Conservatory of Music and Dance(CNSMDP of Paris) while studying the viola with the professor Jean Sulem and his deputy Raymond Glatard.

After Paris, she joined the Lyon National Conservatory of Music and Danceto study the viola with Professor Jean-Philippe Vasseur, his assistant Fabrice Lamarre and Friedeich Kirch. She also participates in contemporary music masterclasses with Christophe Desjardins.

His numerous professional achievements

Professionally, Emilia Wareborn has played and worked with numerous orchestras, including:

Emilia Wareborn undertook several tours with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra from 2002 to 2012.

Emilia Wareborn with the Royal Opera House

In 2013, she starred in the Royal Opera House, “Det Kongelige Teater” in Copenhagen. During the current season, they are performing operas such as:

  • The Trittico,
  • Carmen,
  • Romeo and Juliet,
  • Sleeping Beauty,
  • Tannhäuser,
  • La Bayadère and the Devils of Loudon.

Emilia Wareborn and the Ada trio

Emilia Wareborn also plays with the Ada string chamber music trio. The other members are:

  • Emma de Frumerie, violinist at the Royal Philharmonic in Stockholm,
  • Petra Lundin, cellist in the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, the BSG.

In 2013, the Ada Trio performed, among other works, Bach's Goldberg Variations based on a transcription for string trio by Sitkovetsky, and Divertimento in E-flat major. During the summer, the Ada Trio will be performing for the fifth consecutive year at the Fårö Festival, near Gotland in Sweden.

The Ada trio and the Selest ensemble

Emma de Frumerie, Petra Lundin, and Emilia Wareborn, along with five other musicians, form a group called Selest. The members compose their own music and are currently working on a rearrangement of Mozart's Requiem, as well as performances as artists-in-residence at Vara Concert Hall, Gothenburg. This work is in progress and will premiere in the fall of 2013.

In March 2013, Emilia was the solo viola in the viola concerto recently written by her friend and cousin, the composer Philip WarebornThe concert took place in the Roy O. Disney Hall at CalArts, in the "California Institute of the Arts" in Los Angeles, California.
