Yann Besson, a luthier based in Les Essards, near Saintes, and Hippolyte Lamonerie from La Rochelle, saw their cellos qualify as finalists for the first edition of the International Violin Making Competition, held in Paris from January 19 to 23. Initially, 88 cellos from luthiers were selected for this prestigious competition, organized by Talents & Violon'celles at the Philharmonie de Paris. Unfortunately, they did not reach the podium, which was won by Mira Gruszow and Gideon Baumlblatt.
